Jermaine Ashby - Jermaine is a fielding and hitting instructor with over 10 years of baseball training experience. He is well respected by past and present players and parents not only for his knowledge of the game, but more importantly for the relationships he builds with his players due to his passion for baseball. He uses baseball as an avenue to teach life lessons, respect, responsibility, comradery as well as discipline and responsibility. Jermaine was scouted right out of high school at the age of 18 by the Minnesota Twins. He attended their tryout in New Britain, CT and then subsequently attended their camps as well. The head scouting manager liked what he saw and referred him to the Westchester-Putnam Baseball Association where they would continue to follow his career and watch him grow and develop as a player. During that time, he attended several other pro tryouts and camps with organizations such as the NY Mets, San Diego Padres and Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals. He continued to play with the WPBA for 3 years until he suffered an arm injury that would unfortunately end his quest to play professional baseball. Jermaine decided in 2010 to try out for the Newark Bears and made it to the last round of cuts. To this day he keeps in touch with Tim Raines who was the head coach at the time. Jermaine currently works as an athletic instructor in NY, NJ and CT. He completed the Rutgers SAFETY Clinic, Sports Awareness for educating today’s youth. Jermaine has over 20 years coaching experience including Rec/Town, High School and competitive travel/club ball in NY and NJ. Jermaine has helped coach as well as train legitimate Div 1, Div 2 and Div 3 prospects many of which have gone on to play professional baseball. He currently coaches the 16U NJ Axemen team and has been with them for the last 4 years.
